An AI Company, HardWare, places their data centers in the middle of nowhere. They extract all the resources out of the environment there leaving behind harmful chemicals that leak into the ground. Once a diverse environment becomes a wasteland. Creatures evolve out of the chemicals left behind from the data centers, and are thus engrained with data, and the memory of the machines that were once there.
